I have over thirteen years of experience working with Fortune 500 companies and solo inventors alike in a wide range of intellectual property matters and technologies.  Although the needs of each client are unique, every individual or entity operating  within the realm of intellectual property can benefit from strategies grounded on common sense and cost efficiency.

I earned my J.D. from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, with internships with the   Hawai'i Department of Land and Natural Resources and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.  Like every patent attorney, I have an educational background in science.  Unlike many patent attorneys, my studies were in agriculture, crop production, and plant sciences.

I graduated the University of Florida with a Doctor of Plant Medicine (DPM) degree from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, as well a B.S. in Horticulture with a Minor in Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology.  Although my law practice now includes plant variety protection and patent matters relating to agriculture and associated industries, I also represent clients operating in a diverse range of technologies.

Technology areas and industries in which I have experience include medical devices and surgical methods (particularly in the cardiac, ocular, and spinal industries), medical implants, agrichemicals, agricultural equipment and production methods, microirrigation and hydroponics systems, plant varieties, turbomachinery and aerojet engines, industrial machinery and engines, heating and cooling systems, large-scale water purification and remediation systems, textiles, personal protective equipment and SCUBA gear, fitness and sporting equipment, boat hulls, marine and watersports equipment and accessories, energy production, toys, firearms, food preservation, methods and formulations for pest control, UAVs and drones, apparel and footwear, industrial systems and processes, safety innovations, life sciences and biotechnology, battery technology, and consumer products.

Not only do I love science, but I love the practice of intellectual property law.  This includes sensibly managing portfolios, working with inventors, in-house counsel, corporations, and universities to identify and foster development of valuable new ideas and strategies to leverage innovation, brand development, business collaborations, and intellectual property assets.
